90s Hip-Hop / R&B
Friday 14th October

The Thirst / Shadez The Misfit

Hyped 90s Hip-Hop & R&B night Supa Dupa Fly is back for another rammed party at Jazz Café bringing back the golden days of 90's Hip-hop and R&B. Since launching in March, the events have gone from strength to strength and are now a necessity in any 90s music lovers diary! The Guardian Guide named the night pick of the week in June, and the night has received great press from the likes of Time Out & SB.TV.

Named after Missy’s first Album (but you knew that), the music is ONLY 90s Hip-Hop and R&B, so expect to hear Dr Dre, Snoop Dog, KRS One, Wu-Tang, Nas, Bigge, Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, LL Cool J, Missy and all the hottest 90s R&B joints from the likes of R Kelly, Donell Jones, Montell Jordan, TLC, Destinys Child and loads more good stuff.  There are also live sets from two of the hottest bands of the moment; The Thirst and Shadez The Misfit. Selected Pints & Vodka mixers are just £2.20, so even the drinks are 90s prices!

We’ll be launching our exclusive ‘I’m Supa Dupa Fly’ t-shirts at this event, and we’ll be giving away free ones to those of you who we feel deserve it the most!

Acts 14.10.11

The Thirst, a Brixton quartet who can only be described as a mix of Lenny kravitz with The Beatles, will be playing their new Electric Groove tracks to an eager audience. They've toured with Pete Doherty, Rolling Stones, and the Sex Pistols and shared stages with the likes of Wiley and Chipmunk.  http://thethirst.co.uk/

Shadez The Misfit is recently released his debut mixtape 'Misfit Maximus' to critical acclaim with stellar reviews in Dazed & Confused & SB-TV. He has also performed on Channel 4, hosts the popular G-Shock sessions in Brick Lane & was chosen by Katie Eary (Kanye West's designer) to model for her recent show in conjunction with Puma at London Fashion Week! http://shadezthemisfit.co.uk/

Djs Kaya, Kojack & Mr Wilson will also be on the decks.

Hyped 90s Hip-Hop & R&B night Supa Dupa Fly is back on 9th September for another rammed out party at Jazz Café bringing back the golden days of 90's Hip-hop and R&B. This month there are live sets from two of the hottest bands of the moment; the awesome Chrome and Piff Gang, as well as a 90s hiphop guest set from the legend Big Ted. Selected Pints & Vodka mixers £2.20, so even the drinks are 90s prices!

Acts 09.09.11

Big Ted is one of the pioneers of hiphop in the UK, one half of ‘chubby kids’ who hosted the iconic show in Kiss 100 from 1999-2008. Since leaving Kiss, he’s been on the road with Ty and hosting concerts for hiphop legends Epmd, Pete Rock & CL, Q-Bert, KRS One & Raekwon.

Piff Gang Hailing from London, this set of rappers and DJ's represent the new wave of music in the UK. A far cry from the road rap currently on the airwaves (since when did the UK turn into a giant Compton?) these guys are ushering in a more upbeat spectrum of hip hop.

Chrome Recently described by one record label exec as an edgier Taio Cruz with the vocal presence of John Legend, Chrome has collaborated with Dizzee Rascal on his first and third UK number 1 records and helped him become the pop megastar he is today.
